My blog is a space to discuss art and things that are upbuilding. Having said that we should support artists of color, and I wish the justice system was a space of fairness. We already know this will be a time of unrest. The only way to combat injustice is to apply principles that stop hate crimes.

I pray for a time when we will not have human suffering, corruption, or violence towards people of color. The Bible speaks of this. I hope the mention of christianity does not offend you — as the reader of my blog — from continuing to read. However, I have found there are many life philosophies to combat violence, oppression, racism, and other systemic issues our society is still trying to root out. I heard many of them during my post graduate studies at Cal State Fullerton learning about women studies, systems of oppression, human nature, and philosophy. I have not seen any of them actually work or present a solution that made sense, more than a very simple one I heard as a child — the idea of loving your neighbor as yourself.

If we all loved our neighbor, these violent events would never take place. We would be overcome by empathy and compassion. I’m focusing my energy on practicing this principle this week, whether it means listening to your neighbor, or just showing love towards those who are hurting.

“You must love your neighbor as yourself.”

Matthew 22:39

I have these wave stationary cards in my shop, so if you’d like one, just check out them out here. I’m working on painting the rest of the bundle this week. There will be five cards and I will sell them as a pack.
