Paul Van Ernich "Tools for Poetry" Fine Art Class
Every year Paul Van Ernich visits San Clemente Art Supply to teach this special class. His oil painting class covers the oil painting methods of the Dutch masters using the same base colors and process. It feels as though one is swept back in time for an overview of history, theory, and culture. If you are an artist and have not taken his course, you should.
His body of work harkens back to this traditional style and has an elegance in the way he portrays delicate light on his subjects.

The burger and beer piece below is the painting I created in his class. I purchased actual food at the restaurant next door and staged this for the actual painting as a live subject. It worked great because we were able to control the lighting of the subject for two days of painting.
