DIY: Simple Watercolor Paintings You Can Gift

IMG_1858.jpg

Everyone loves small watercolor do-it-yourself projects. You can do this one really easily.

  1. Tape your border area.

Place tape to create a margin in a square or rectangle. This will give you a border so you can place a mat around the paintings.

2. Paint the background

Use a large round watercolor brush to spread water across the area you want to paint. Then you will start at the top and paint the blue in the wet water. From here you mix your second color while the water is still wet. You will blend more than one color together to create the technique above.

3. Let the paint dry and use an ink brush for the trees.

Draw the palm trees in only after the watercolor paint has dried on the paper. For this project I used a Pentel Arts- Color Brush Pen Black.

Ta da! You have a simple painting. These are great for stationary or small gifts on special occasions. I also love this technique for de-stressing. Art can be a great source of therapy.
