Children's pattern inspiration & taking from nostalgia
This pattern came to me the other day after a moment of nostalgia over my childhood. I can remember loving horses, horseback riding, winter time, reading mystery novels, playing with cars and dinosaurs, and thinking about adventures. I was a highly creative child and loved to fantasize during the day time about random things.
The theme of this pattern is both floral, fleshy toned, and has dark accents. I loved the idea of using a darker color for the leaves as a more Victorian touch. The color of the horses also was selected because fawn colored horses were my mother's favorite. I loved black horses and she always loved the lighter colored horse with a white mane. The pattern reminds me of both my mother and my childhood.
I created this floral pattern using procreate on my iPad Pro. I have really been enjoying developing patterns and more intellectual illustrations using my iPad. I purchased the pro about half a year ago in the hope of learning how to do digital illustration on it and lettering. I learned about digital illustration when I attended the Art Institute of Orange County and in the digital art program at Golden West College. I hope to create more in this collection of floral patterns.
